The new Vosokogorsky Bridge across the Yenisei river is protected from corrosion by VMP materials

On August 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a new highway bridge across the Yenisei River in the Krasnoyarsk Krai via video link. The crossing is located near the town of Lesosibirsk on one bank and Vysokogorsky settlement on the other. This bridge became the seventh and the northernmost highway crossing across the Yenisei river.

Earlier, the full-flowing river could only be crossed in summer and autumn by ferry or boat. In the off-season, residents of almost twenty settlements along the right bank remained isolated from the mainland for a long time. Now, this way became much shorter and can be used all year round.

Construction of the Vysokogorskiy Bridge was a real challenge for the builders. “The bridge was one of the most difficult for us to build because of a rocky bottom, fast current, and floods twice a year with water rise of more than 6 meters; also, it has a unique 210-meter long girder which was the first one of this kind to be built in Russia. The bridge was designed by Lengiprotrans and its structures were manufactured by Kurganstalmost, paint coatings were applied by VMP Engineering, and the construction was managed by NatsProektStrot.” The project was commissioned earlier than scheduled, which became a good tradition,” said Nikolai Russu, Head of Mostostroy 11 and a general contractor for the construction of the Vysokogorsky Bridge.

Tthe materials manufactured by VMP Research and Production Holding were chosen to protect the bridge crossing structures from corrosion in adverse weather conditions.

“We are proud that our materials were chosen to protect the Vysokogorskiy Bridge across the Yenisei river. VMP coatings will protect the bridge structures in adverse weather conditions for many years ahead. On-site application of coatings on the bridge steel structures was carried out by VMP Engineering, the service division of VMP Holding. In this way, we ensured the comprehensive approach to the corrosion protection of the facility,” said Mikhail Vakhrushev, resident of VMP Research and Production Holding.
