Application of fire-retardant paint PLAMCOR-1

Surface preparation before application

The paint is applied to the previously prepared surface. For this purpose, it is recommended to use VMP primers such as vinyl-epoxy enamel VINICOR-061, zinc-filled ZINEP, ZFES, ZINOTAN or other primers as specified by the fire-retardant composition manufacturer.

The prepared surface shall be free from metal corrosion, peeling and cracking. Fire-retardant composition is applied not earlier than 24 hours after priming. The surface shall be prepared before applying the fire-proof composition by degreasing to the first degree according to GOST 9.402 and by removing moisture and dust.

Preparation for the paint application

The paint shall be thoroughly mixed until homogeneous before application. The material may be diluted with water in the amount not more than 10% by weight.

Application of fire-retardant paint

PLAMCOR-2 shall be applied at temperatures ranging from +5°C to +40°C and a relative humidity of no more than 85%. It shall be applied with airless spraying, roller or brush.

The thickness of one layer of dry coat depends on the application method. A roller or brush application requires 200–350 µm, while airless spraying is ranging from 400 to 800 µm.

The theoretical spreading rate from 200 to 350 µm one-layer is from 320 to 560 g/m².

The prepared structure area is coated in 1-4 layers, depending on the required fire-proofing efficiency and the metal's thickness.

Each layer is cured for at least 12 hours (at temperature 20±2°C and relative humidity 65±5%).

The drying time depends on the temperature and relative humidity. Increased temperature and decreased humidity accelerate the drying rate. The composition requires at least 3 days to dry.

PLAMCOR-1 is not water-resistant. Moisture exposure, including condensation, shall be eliminated during painting and operating.

A finishing enamel can be used as a finishing layer. Application is performed in 1 or 2 layers to achieve a total thickness of 50 to 80 µm, after at least a 24-hour curing period of the fire-retardant paint.
