Application of fire-retardant paint PLAMCOR-3
Surface preparation before applying the composition
The composition is applied to the previously prepared surface. To create the primary layer, it is recommended to use VMP primers such as zinc-filled ZINOTAN, ZINEP, ZFES with anticorrosive pigments, ISOLEP-primer. The composition may also be applied to primers such as GF-021 (GOST 25129-82), Penguard Express, or other primers, in compliance with the manufacturer's recommendations for the fire-retardant composition.
The prepared surface shall be free from metal corrosion, peeling and cracking. The primer coating thickness shall be between 40 and 80 µm. Fire-retardant composition is applied not earlier than 1 day after priming. The structure area shall be prepared by removing dust and grease to the first degree according to GOST 9.402. Remove moisture, if necessary.
Preparation of fire-retardant composition for application
The composition base shall be thoroughly mixed before adding the hardener in a weight ratio of 100:12. Once the components are mixed, the fire-retardant paint is ready for use. The composition shall be applied within 1.5 hour at a temperature of (20±2) °С. As the temperature increases, this period is shortened.
If necessary, the composition is brought to working viscosity by SOLV-UR solvent or petroleum solvent in the amount not more than 5% by weight.
Application of fire-retardant coating
PLAMCOR-3 shall be applied at temperature ranging from -5°C to +40°C and relative humidity of not more than 80% by airless spraying or brush.
The thickness of one dry coat depends on the chosen painting method. A brush application requires a minimum thickness of 500 µm, while airless spraying is ranging from 800 to 1000 µm.
The theoretical spreading rate from 800 to 1000 µm one-layer of paint is from 1.1 to 1.4 kg/m².
The prepared structure area is coated in 1-5 layers, depending on the required fire-proofing efficiency and the metal's thickness.
Each layer of coating is cured for at least 12 hours (at temperature 20±2°C). Then the next layer can be applied. Drying time of the coating depends on the temperature and decreases with its increase. The composition requires at least 7 days to dry.
